Epiphany is proud to welcome our pastor Fr. Stefan Megyery. Fr. Stefan was born in Berlin Germany and spent his childhood there before his family moved to a small town in Lower Saxony. He is the youngest of three children. Having both, the German and the Hungarian citizenship he is strongly connected with his family in both countries. After finishing High school he studied History, Psychology and Social Science first in Trier, then in Budapest (Hungary) and finished his studies in Berlin. After finishing his studies, he wrote his PhD in History. The process of writing his thesis is deeply connected with his vocation story. In October 2012 he came to the United States for 6 months in order to do research at the National Archives in Washington DC and at the Presidential Libraries of Presidents Truman (in Independence, MO), and Eisenhower (in Abilene, KS). When he came here, priesthood was not at all in his mind but it was during his time here, that his vocation grew and became stronger. This is why, after he had finished his 6-month research stay and had gone back to Germany, he decided to enter the seminary. He was blessed to be accepted as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Washington DC by Cardinal Wuerl. From 2013-2015 he concluded his Pre-Theology program at Saint John Paul II Seminary in Washington DC, and after that moved to Theological College where he studied Theology. His time in the seminary was a tremendous blessing, for example, he went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, had the chance to serve for Pope Francis during his visit to Washington, and took part in a Spanish Immersion Program in Guatemala. In June 2019, he was ordained to the priesthood by our Archbishop Wilton Gregory. He served two years as parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth Church in Rockville, Maryland. In July 2021, he got assigned to be the administrator at Epiphany Church and Campus Chaplain for George Washington University.
